count your blessings.

a year ago today, was a very special and important day of my life. last night, as i reflected on this experience and what i have learned in the past year, i was overcome with gratitude for my many blessings.

sometimes i become overwhelmed with the thought that my life isn't moving or growing. that life is just moving along day to day. i hate that feeling. it makes me antsy and lazy all at the same time. but last night, i began to think about all of the experiences that led up to that experience. a culmination of little, day to day things, that led to bigger things and all of a sudden i'm in a completely different place than i thought i would be just a few months before. yes, big things are not always happening, but that's how life is. there are high points and low points. fast points and slow points. and i have recognized that when we are willing to be moved and the timing is right, things happen very quickly.

2011 was not an extremely eventful year, in fact it felt like i was just plugging along and i was getting antsy and lazy about life. i kept making plans that always seemed to fall through. in january of 2012 my friend told me about a job. i applied not expecting anything and bam, by april i had been offered the job, quit both of my previous jobs, moved to salt lake with a wonderful friend who just happened to be losing her roommate and started this new job. by may we found a third roommate who has become an incredible friend as well. my new job deepened my testimony of the gospel and prepared me for that special and important day. in august, a year ago today, i was able to share that experience with my family. my entire family. that experience was not done the way i had initially planned. in fact, my original plans were very different. but this new plan felt right. and now, one year later, i can see that had that not happened exactly when and where it did, my whole family would not have been there. one of the greatest blessings of my life is that my dad was with me to share that day with me. soon after that i was given the opportunity to participate in savior of the world at the conference center in salt lake. that was an amazing experience. i learned so much and grew as a person, as a daughter, a sister and a friend. it was a magnificent blessing and again, the fact that my dad was here to share that experience with me, is a blessing as well.

there are fast moments and slow moments in life, but i'm grateful that no matter which point i'm in i can recognize the many wonderful blessings in my life.

  1. I love this so much and I love you. And I'm glad we were roommates. :)
